The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Prepare the necessary certificates or documents for issuance to applicants in respect of the registration and licensing of vessels.
  • Maintain central records of ships registered or licensed.
  • Assist in carrying out surveys and inspections for Tanzanian flagged vessels and foreign flagged vessels calling in Tanzanian ports.
  • Assist in the process of carrying out preliminary investigations for maritime casualties or incidents.
  • Assist in the preparation of certificates or detention notices to be issued to vessels.
  • Ensure that individual objectives, targets, and performance standards are developed as part of the individual performance agreement in consultation with the immediate superior.
  • Perform other official duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor Degree or an Advanced Diploma in one of the following fields:

  • Nautical Science
  • Maritime Transportation
  • Marine Engineering

Applicants must also have attained one of the following:

  • Certificate of Competence under STCW Regulation II/1
  • Certificate of Competence under STCW Regulation III/1
  • Marine Engineering in Hydrograph
