Risk and Compliance

The role holder is required to carry out the duties in accordance with the SCI Fraud, Bribery, and Corruption policy and code of conduct. The key responsibilities include understanding and complying with the SCI policies and procedures, not committing any act of fraud, bribery, or corruption, understanding risks in their area/role, and implementing mitigation measures, report any suspected fraud, bribery, or corruption immediately, declare conflicts of interest in accordance with internal procedures and complete mandatory training related to ethics and anti-fraud measures.

Role Purpose

The warehouse officer will be responsible for proper warehouse management, receiving food commodities and updating warehouse documents. Additionally, the position also mobilizing commodities from main warehouse to each intervention woredas mini warehouse; communicate transporter ahead of time to ensure timely commodity dispatch to each distribution centers.

Scope of Role

• Reports to: Health Nutrition Coordinator
• Dimensions: Save the Children works in - regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately - staff and current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year

Key Areas of Accountability

• Work closely with the commodity officer for proper warehouse management
• Responsible for receiving of food from Primary delivery point
• Update warehouse documents
• Keep and file all the necessary warehouse documents
• Proper handling of damaged commodities, loss handling and loss reporting
• Communicate with the transporter ahead of the time
• Mobilization of the community for commodity offloading at mini-stores
• Receiving the commodity at mini-stores
• Dispatch commodity to the FOOD distributors during distribution date
• Update Ledger and stack card right after receipt of the commodity
• Ensure that all documents are filed at mini-store level
• Take part on distribution activities
• Be responsible to hold mini-stores Key
• Returning the undistributed balance to the woreda warehouse
• Ensure mini stores are clean, free from Non-Food Items and infestation
• Ensure food stayed more than two days at the mini store
• Ensure monthly reporting systems are implemented in the satellite office
• Perform other related tasks as required and tasks assigned by the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential: BSc/College Diploma in Nursing and/or other health related fields. At least Four years working experience in the field out of which two years NGO experience in related field. Experienced in nutrition and health program implementation –data collection and compilation, working with counterpart for lasting intervention, training of health workers, etc. Good written and spoken ability of the local language. Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations. Interest in and ability to work in team. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.
• Desirable: Awareness of international accountability standards including HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership) and a demonstrated commitment to promoting these standards in ways of working and project implementation. Experience of working with an international NGO in Somali region. Experience of social work in local communities. Experience of effectively communicating findings to internal/external stakeholders. Experience in child friendly accountability systems. Previous experience of working in an emergency context.
