TFG’s Riverfields Distribution Centre (DC) is a critical enabler of our growing eCommerce business, delivering exceptional service, speed and operational excellence to our customers. We are looking for an experienced DC Operations Manager to lead and optimise end-to-end distribution centre operations, ensuring efficient fulfilment, inventory management, people leadership, safety, and service delivery across our eCommerce operation. The successful candidate will work closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Transport, Systems, Merchandising and Store Operations teams to drive operational performance, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong operational leader with proven distribution centre management experience, the ability to lead large teams, manage complexity in a fast-paced environment and deliver sustainable operational efficiencies while maintaining excellent service levels

Requirements

  • 8-10 years’ experience within supply chain, warehousing, logistics or distribution centre operations.
  • At least 5 years’ leadership experience managing large operational teams within a high-volume distribution centre environment.
  • Experience within eCommerce fulfilment operations would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control and operational reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing productivity, service level agreements, labour planning and operational budgets.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations and distribution centre compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders across operational and support functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and people development skills.
  • Advantageous: As we have Deaf employees within the organisation, an interest in and ability to learn South African Sign Language (SASL) would be advantageous and would support effective communication and workplace inclusion.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • A relevant degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related field.

Key Duties

  • Lead and manage all operational activities within the Riverfields eCommerce Distribution Centre.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient and cost-effective receipt, storage, inventory management, picking, packing and dispatch of customer orders.
  • Deliver operational excellence and achieve productivity, service and performance targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Foster and maintain a high-performance culture aligned with TFG’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide operational leadership across warehousing, fulfilment, inventory management and people management functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, governance and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy and effective stock management practices.
  • Lead, develop and motivate teams to achieve operational goals and business objectives.
  • Support the continued growth, scalability and optimisation of TFG’s eCommerce operations.
